In a recent Fierce Healthcare article, Forrest Pascal, Ph.D., shared his insights on how hospital systems are navigating the use of generative AI.
As a former AI/ML model governance lead at Kaiser Permanente, Pascal emphasized the challenge healthcare institutions face in not only determining best practices for AI use but also in maintaining and validating AI models over time.
“Models are somewhat alive, they’re dynamic… they’re always changing because of that drift, and they have to be calibrated.”
He also pointed out that larger institutions are more likely to have AI governance frameworks in place due to their risk-averse nature and cautious approach to AI adoption.
